The Xavier Alumni Sodality of New York

Founded to meet especially the wants of Catholic Alumni, it is mainly composed of ex-students of Colleges, although not exclusively so, membership being cordially extended to others. Membership may be obtained by application through the Director, or a member of the Council of the Sodality. The regular meetings are held at the College on the first Sunday of every month.

The Sodality of the Immaculate Conception

The Sodality of the Immaculate Conception has for object the encouragement of virtue and zeal for literary advancement. The Director is appointed by the Faculty, the other officers are elected by the members.

The Sodality of the Holy Angels

The Sodality of the Holy Angels is intended for the Students of the Grammar Classes. Its object is the same as that of the Sodality of the Immaculate Conception.

The Sodality of the Infant Jesus

The Sodality of the Infant Jesus was established in November, 1867, for the Students of the Preparatory Class.

The Xavier Alumni Association

The Xavier Alumni Association is composed of graduates of St. Francis Xavier's College, and of other institutions. The meetings are held in one of the College halls, and are under the direction of one of the Professors. At each meeting papers on literary or scientific subjects are read by members of the Association. The Director is appointed by the College Faculty.

The Debating Society

The St. Francis Xavier's Debating Society holds its meetings every fortnight. The exercises consist in the reading of original Essays and debates on subjects selected by the President. Membership is confined to the Senior Students of the University Course. The President is appointed by the College Faculty, the other officers are elected semi-annually by the members.

The Junior Academy

The Junior Academy is composed of students from the Grammar Classes. The exercises consist in the discussion of some of the more intricate rules of Grammar, in the declamation of select pieces, and in the writing of elementary compositions in the English language.
